As we travelled down Brazil, we were constantly being told São Paulo was the place to be in Latin America to share and experience the Hip Hop Culture. It did not disappoint.
Arriving into this concrete jungle, we were hosted by Catatau (Tsunami All Stars) and feeling exhausted from our previous travel, we really appreciated all his hospitality. He is a true legend and we loved the 'Hot Stepper' gift he gave us! Thank you brother!
Catatau explained the history of Hip Hop in Sao Paulo including the importance of the legendary Back Spin Crew which was formed in 1985. Here in Sao Paulo, there was an abundance of Hip Hop events across the city and we managed to be here during one of the biggest cultural festivals in the city called 'Virada Cultural'. The festival included a Bonnie and Clyde battle which Bgirl Miwa had organised and we went to the legendary Rock Master party which was a bar full of dancers rocking the floor. If you're in Sao Paulo, you have to hit this spot!! We want to give a shout out to Bgirl Nathana and Bboy Slice (Killa Rockers / Sight of the Blindz) for supporting us with contacts and it was nice to share some good times together.
We also had the opportunity to share the EPIC Journey with 400 students in Sao Paulo where we talked about the project and taught a workshop. We have always said that even if we can inspire one person, we feel we have made a significant difference. I would like to think we had a positive impact on these young students. Without a shadow of a doubt, our most humbling experience in Sao Paulo has to be sharing 10 days with Wanda and Ari who hosted us in Sao Paulo. Their energy and willingness to help us taught us many life lessons which we will never forget. People often always forget that where ever you travel, they are beautiful people who are willing to help and support you. We believe in the law of attraction and the more positive energy to give, the more you receive. We have been so grateful and fortunate to have crossed paths with so many incredible people.
